Why do I need to register my products?+

You need to register your products so that the Pharmacy Board will ensure that medicines and other related products that are manufactured, imported, exported, distributed, and/or utilized in Sierra Leone are of good quality, fit for human consumption and are of the optimum safety.

Which type of products do I need to register?+

These products must be registered: Medicinal products and Medical devices; Chemical substances and Cosmetics; Herbal/complementary products; Food/dietary supplements; Nutritional agents including energy drinks and beverages.

How long does registration take?+

The registration process varies depending on the product type and completeness of the application. Standard applications are typically processed within 90–180 working days. Expedited review may be available for essential medicines.

What fees are required for registration?+

Registration fees vary by product category. Please refer to the Registration Fees page for the current fee schedule. Fees must be paid to the Pharmacy Board before processing of the application begins.

How do I report an adverse drug reaction?+

You can report an adverse drug reaction through the WHO VigiFlow system at the link provided on our Adverse Drug Reaction reporting page, or by contacting the Pharmacy Board directly via email or telephone.

How do I report counterfeit drugs?+

You can report counterfeit or substandard medicines using the online form on our Report Counterfeit Drugs page, or by calling us at +232 73994830 / +232 99117117.

Can foreign-registered companies apply for product registration?+

Yes. Foreign manufacturers or their authorized local representatives may apply for registration of pharmaceutical products in Sierra Leone. A local agent or representative is required for all applications from foreign entities.
